Ben García & Lucas Martínez — Raíces

Mexican double bassist Ben García and saxophonist Lucas Martínez met in Barcelona in 2024. Living and playing far from where they grew up became the creative engine of Raíces, their debut album: six open compositions between contemporary jazz and improvisation, with Antonio Sánchez on drums and Marco Mezquida on piano, released on May 1, 2026.

What we did

Raíces (2026)

Ben García & Lucas Martínez · feat. Antonio Sánchez & Marco Mezquida
Released May 1, 2026 · Independent · Digital and vinyl · 6 tracks · 37:02

Raíces was born from a moment of pause: the need to slow down, listen closely and ask again who we are when everything around us is in motion. Improvisation works here as a space for listening and real-time conversation rather than technical display.

“An exciting dialogue between Mexico and Catalonia from the international jazz tradition. It is not about virtuosity, but emotion.”
