Greg Lamy & Flavio Boltro release Letting Go on Igloo Records, a contemporary jazz album for guitar and trumpet out on June 8, 2023. Luxembourg-based guitarist Greg Lamy and Italian trumpeter Flavio Boltro recorded every theme in a first take, with Gautier Laurent on double bass and Jean-Marc Robin on drums.
A guitar and trumpet conversation
Greg Lamy and Flavio Boltro go back a long way. Boltro already appeared on Lamy’s albums Meeting (2013), Press Enter (2017) and Observe the Silence (2021). On Letting Go he steps forward as an equal partner, after many concerts together across Europe, and the rhythm section of Gautier Laurent and Jean-Marc Robin gives the two soloists all the room they need.
The album marks a clear evolution in Lamy’s playing: care for colour, a feel for space, a more refined sound and a light accompaniment that leaves room for listening. The repertoire combines original compositions by Lamy and Boltro with a song from the Pino Daniele repertoire, “Chi Tene O’Mare”, suggested by Boltro. The first single, “Bridge House”, opens the record.

Two careers that meet
Flavio Boltro is one of Italy’s leading jazz trumpeters. A former member of the Orchestre National de Jazz, he has shared the stage with Michel Petrucciani, Michel Portal, Eric Legnini and Stefano Di Battista. Greg Lamy, born in New Orleans and trained at Berklee College of Music, lives between Luxembourg and Paris and has collaborated with Lionel Loueke and Bojan Z.

For the launch of Letting Go, Monart ran a web promotion campaign for Greg Lamy & Flavio Boltro: a social media and digital marketing campaign on Instagram and Facebook, edits of the album videos, Meta Ads for the release, and updates to Greg Lamy’s website and newsletter.
On tour
The quartet takes the album on the road at the Jazzkeller in Frankfurt (June 23), the Jazzclub Unterfahrt in Munich (June 24), the Sunset Sunside in Paris (June 27), Festival Jazz & Blues in Luxembourg (July 15) and Au grès du jazz in La Petite Pierre (August 11).
