Glass Marcano conducting the Orchestra Sinfonica Haydn di Bolzano

Glass Marcano

Conductor website · 2026

glassmarcano.com is the conductor website Monart designed and built for Glass Marcano, the Venezuelan conductor trained in El Sistema and Partner Conductor of the Wiener Concert-Verein (2024–2027). Light, colourful and in three languages: a site that doesn’t talk about her so much as move the way she does.

What we did

  • Musician website design and development: concept, palette, typography, motion and build
  • Home, Season, Video, Gallery, Biography and Press, in English, French and Spanish with the same weight
  • A custom cursor drawn from her own hand holding the baton
  • Technical SEO for search engines and AI assistants: structured data, clean URLs, llms.txt

The offer still stands

Paris, 2020–2026

In November 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, Gustavo watched the video portrait France Musique devoted to Glass Marcano after La Maestra, the Paris competition for women conductors where she had won the Orchestra Award. On November 10 he contacted her on Instagram. They had never met. He told her he admired her path, that he believed a great deal of Latin American talent was still waiting to be heard, and that he was available to support her, a website included. She replied that same day.

Over the next two years her career kept her travelling and the conversation stayed occasional. In September 2022 Gustavo renewed the website offer. She accepted, and on September 7 they met for the first time, at Monart’s office in Montreuil.

Work began in November 2023 with the structure of the site and continued remotely, around her engagements. The site launched in July 2026 and was fully redesigned in October 2026.

One detail sums up the approach: the cursor is her own hand holding the baton. On her site, she is the one who guides the visitor.

On every screen

Desktop and mobile, every section designed for both.

Maiquetía palette: blue #2457D6, amber #F2A71B, green #3FAF4A, ink and ivory

The floor at Maiquetía

Conductor websites tend to look alike: black or midnight blue, gold details, an elegant italic serif, a dramatic portrait with the baton raised, tails, theatre light. The aesthetic of inherited power. Glass’s site doesn’t put on that uniform.

The palette comes from the floor of Maiquetía airport, the kinetic work by Carlos Cruz-Diez that every Venezuelan walks across when leaving and coming home. For a conductor who lives between planes, it is her origin and her point of departure. Blue #2457D6, amber #F2A71B and green #3FAF4A on a warm ivory #FBF8F1, with ink #16191A for text.

Amber instead of gold: Caribbean late-afternoon light rather than opera velvet. No section sits on black. Classical music as something bright and open, not a room in half-light.

And the colour moves, the way Cruz-Diez’s floor changes as you walk it. Each gallery photo arrives washed in one of the palette’s colours and reveals itself under the cursor, a blue band of orchestra names runs like a ticker, and a wave of colour runs through the letters of her name in the logo.

Bebas Neue, Archivo condensed and Newsreader on glassmarcano.com

Two voices

Bebas Neue appears in one place only: her name on the opening screen, like a concert poster.

Archivo is the voice of the present. A variable grotesque pushed to its narrowest width (wdth 62) at weight 850, uppercase, line height 0.9, headings up to 9rem. Poster type, festival type, the kind you see pasted on a wall the week of the concert. Vertical, compressed, with the physical energy of a conducting gesture. Section titles take the space like a tutti.

Newsreader is the voice of tradition: a reading serif with optical sizes for the biography, press quotes and long texts, at 1.15 to 1.3rem with a 1.6 line height. It respects the culture of the programme note and the review.

Together they tell who Glass is: trained in the most demanding discipline of the repertoire, with a voice of her generation. She doesn’t break with tradition. She conducts it. The spacing follows the same logic: tight, heavy headings, and labels and navigation set wide open at 0.16 to 0.24em. Fortissimo and pianissimo.

Her hand

The pointer is Glass’s hand holding the baton, traced in a fine line from photos of her conducting.

The tip of the baton is exactly the point that clicks. An amber dot lights up only over what responds, and on click the baton marks a small beat.

Visitors don’t browse the site. She conducts them through it.

Entrances

Instead of a flat timeline, Key Milestones borrows the circles, squares and shapes of the press section. They come in staggered, like instruments entering, turn slowly and follow the mouse with a slight parallax.

Plenty of white between sections, like written rests. The videos sit in a horizontal slider, from city to city like a tour, with play buttons drawn for the site.

Three languages, no hierarchy: English for the international career, French for the city she lives in, Spanish for where she comes from. The Spanish is not a courtesy translation. It is home.

Why it looks young

Not because of her age. Because of a visual language of its time. Colour instead of gold. Poster instead of engraving. Movement instead of pose. Light instead of half-light. Her hand instead of an arrow.

Classical music is still a closed world, with few podiums, mostly male and European. A Latin American conductor trained in El Sistema doesn’t need to dress up as that world to take her place in it. The design makes the same statement as her career: you can reach the podium without leaving where you come from behind.

About the project

glassmarcano.com is the official website of Glass Marcano, Venezuelan conductor and Partner Conductor of the Wiener Concert-Verein (2024–2027). Born in San Felipe, she began her musical journey at age four through El Sistema, and in 2020 won the Orchestra Award at the inaugural La Maestra Competition in Paris.

Monart Music Agency, a music marketing agency based in Paris, designed and developed the site: launched in July 2026 and redesigned in October 2026. It includes a home page with season, video and press sections, a 50-photo gallery and a full biography, in English, French and Spanish.

For search engines and AI assistants, the site uses schema.org Person structured data linked to her Wikipedia, Wikidata (Q102532269) and MusicBrainz entries, concert events marked up as Event, an llms.txt file, clean URLs and a fast static build, so that Google and AI tools identify her without ambiguity. See our musician website service.
