Refuge (2025)
Alex Stuart · released June 10, 2025 · 9 tracks
An ode to the beauty of the world: the soft light of a fading sun, a western breeze scattering the clouds, a bird landing on a branch. The quintet recorded Refuge after a 2024 residency, mixing jazz, post-rock, minimalism and world music into a true band sound.
Born in Canberra in 1983, Alex Stuart has lived in Paris since 2005. His album Around won the Grand Prix du Jury and the Révélation 2011 title at Jazz à Juan.
The digipak
Svhen designed the six-panel digipak around Roger Stuart’s photographs: the swimmer on the front, the tracklist over the water on the back, a portrait of Alex inside, the credits, and a lone tree on red earth on the flap.
