On April 24, 2023, Spanish culture site Canción a quemarropa published an interview by Héctor Martín with pianist Javier Red about Life & Umbrella, his new album with Imagery Converter.
What Javier Red said
El disco sale de lo que siento y observo, pero está enfocado en describir a los niños que tienen autismo en general. Y el punto de vista es que lo escuchen y lo entiendan los que no tienen autismo. (“The album comes from what I feel and observe, but it focuses on describing children with autism in general. And the point is for people without autism to listen to it and understand it.”)
Javier Red, interviewed by Héctor Martín
The interview
In the interview, Javier Red talks about his musical origins in Mexico City, his move to Chicago in 2015, the two recording sessions of the album, his bandmates Gustavo Cortiñas, Jake Wark and Ben Dillinger, and the meaning of the umbrella in the title, the name given to the autism spectrum.
