On 25 and 26 June 2021, pianist Manuel Rocheman brought his quartet to the Sunset Sunside in Paris for two concerts, as part of the club’s piano festival Pianissimo Vol. XVI.
Magic Lights on stage
The quartet played the music of Magic Lights, Manuel Rocheman’s album released in 2021 by Bonsaï Music, with American saxophonist Rick Margitza, Mathias Allamane on double bass and Matthieu Chazarenc on drums. In April 2021, FIP had made it its record of the week.
Back in the clubs
The Sunside reopened on 9 June 2021 after months of closure, and Manuel Rocheman was among the first names it announced. Under the health rules of the time, the room was limited to 60 seated places for each concert.
What came next
The official release concert of Magic Lights followed on 21 October 2021 at the Bal Blomet.
