About the album

De amor y desamor (Of love and heartbreak) is an album of intimate songs, written from a deeply human and vulnerable place. These songs are born from intense and contradictory emotions. Sometimes sadness, other times desire, tenderness, or confusion, but they don’t stop there: they seek to transform them into something luminous and warm, something that offers company. They don’t speak of love through epic scales or drama, but through the everyday, through the body and small gestures: a voice, a room, a memory, a recurring question.

The project is rooted in the idea that vulnerability can be a form of strength and honesty. The songs don’t aim to explain or resolve anything; they aim to be present, to offer companionship. Musically, everything revolves around the voice and the guitar, with meticulous and subtle arrangements (strings, silences, breath), always at the service of emotion and never for the sake of spectacle.

This intimacy is mirrored in the way the album was made. Recorded entirely at home, in a self-built attic studio, De amor y desamor was written, performed, produced, and mixed by Luca himself except for some guest musicians on double bass, saxophones and strings. The process was solitary, slow, and exploratory: allowing space for intuition, imperfection, and discovery. Small details remain intentionally present: the sound of a chair, the breath between phrases, the texture of a room. Rather than polish them away, they become part of the music’s emotional fabric.

At the center of everything is the voice; unprocessed, close, and exposed, supported by a wide but cohesive palette of instruments: nylon and steel-string guitars, baritone guitar, cuatro venezolano, electric guitar and bass, subtle percussion, and analog and digital synthesis, including a toy Casio keyboard from Luca’s childhood. The arrangements shift between sparse and richly layered, but always remain in service of the same principle: to hold the emotion without overshadowing it.

It is an album of luminous melancholy: songs of love and loss that do not seek to cling to the past, but to accept what hurts and allow it to transform into clarity.

About Luca de Dios

Luca de Dios is a Spanish-language singer-songwriter whose work transforms sadness into light. Rooted in an intimate voice, intricate nylon-string guitar writing, and evolving electro-acoustic textures, his music inhabits a space where tenderness becomes a radical force. Drawing from Ibero-American folk traditions, contemporary songwriting, and subtle electronic production, Luca crafts a poetic language that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

With a background in film music, jazz guitar and orchestral composition, Luca has developed a sonic identity defined by vulnerability, clarity, and emotional precision. His compositions foreground the quiet gestures; breath, silence, resonance, approaching songwriting as a place for presence rather than performance.

On stage, Luca performs solo, in small acoustic ensembles, or in electro-acoustic band formats, maintaining an unwavering commitment to closeness and sonic honesty. His music invites listeners into a world where vulnerability is not a flaw, but a form of truth.
