Mexico City guitarist and composer León Chiprout released “Chord Shapes” on August 21, 2026, the first single of his project Superficially Profound, featuring percussionist Luis Conte, known for his work with Pat Metheny, Madonna, Phil Collins, Al Jarreau, George Benson and James Taylor.
The song
León wrote it the day he sat down at a new piano for the first time in over twenty years. He first made his name as the guitarist of Aleks Syntek y La Gente Normal. On Chord Shapes he plays keys, guitar and bass, with Alan Fajardo on trumpet, Gilberto Castillo on drums, Victor Morales on piano and Diana Dultzin on vocals.
The release campaign
The single opens a release campaign run by Monart: storytelling reels built from interviews with León, Meta Ads aimed at Spotify listeners, newsletters and his new website.
