Manuel Hermia
Website and PR
Improviser, composer and explorer of world music, Manuel Hermia gives free rein to his voice as a saxophonist and to his love of the bansuri, the North Indian flute. Alongside his studies in saxophone and jazz harmony at the Conservatoire, he developed a mastery of the bansuri and broadened his knowledge of Indian and Arabic music, bringing ragas and maqâms into a holistic approach to music.
Little by little, he brings into his language every cultural element his path invites him to take in. He also developed his own melodic and harmonic system, a theory called rajazz, bridging jazz and ragas, in other words tonal and modal thinking in music.
